Below is a partial list of the individuals imprisoned at the Tuna Canyon Detention Station, which was open from December 16, 1941 to October 30, 1943.
These names were initially compiled by Lloyd Hitt at the end of 2014. Russell Endo, the primary researcher for the TCDS Coalition (pictured), then assumed responsibility for this task. Since 2015, he has been researching names and the history of Tuna Canyon on multiple extended visits to the National Archives at College Park, Washington DC, Riverside, and San Francisco.
The U.S. government never maintained a list of Tuna Canyon detainees, so these names have been compiled from tens of thousands of National Archives documents, detainee diaries and correspondence, news articles, and other primary sources. Besides finding names, research is being done to correct misspellings and Americanized given names, and to eliminate any aliases.
