The Tuna Canyon Detention Station (TCDS) was the site of the unjust World War II incarceration of Japanese, German, Italian aliens, and others. It was authorized by Presidential Proclamations 2525, 2526, and 2527. It should not be confused with EO 9066. Marc Stirdivant, for whom this scholarship was established, believed in the power and effectiveness of diverse coalitions as well as preserving places that remind us of the importance of social justice for all. All that remains on the site now are the oaks that were existent when TCDS was in operation. The scholarships are open to all students entering/exiting 9th to 12th grade. The TCDS Coalition reserves the right to not award. Entries utilizing Artificial Intelligence will be disqualified.
